Frequently Asked Qestions

What medicines are used for botulinum therapy?

Immediately I would like to note that the procedure for relaxing the muscles that cause the appearance of facial wrinkles is called botulinum therapy, and Botox (Botox) is the registered name of one of the first botulinum toxins produced by the American company Allergan.

Other products now include , prabotulinumtoxinA (Jeuveau), abobotulinumtoxinA (Dysport), rimabotulinumtoxinB (Myobloc) and incobotulinumtoxinA (Xeomin). Each is a little different, particularly when it comes to dosage units, so they aren’t interchangeable.

Is Jeuveau better than Botox?

It’s clear that Jeuveau and Botox are both FDA Approved and similar in many ways. However, there are a few things that make them different. Botox can be used for more than anti-aging. It can improve TMJ pain, headaches, and joint pain. Jeuveau, however, was formulated for aesthetic use only. It’s the only botulinum injectable on the market that is designed to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles.

Also, several studies have shown that Jeuveau may give longer-lasting results than Botox. Most patients enjoy beautiful results for three to four months. Duration of effect can vary from patient to patient.

Is Botox eliminated from the body?

For most patients, regardless of how Botox is used, it will eventually be destroyed by the body.

How long is the Botox and Dermal Filler procedure?

Getting Botox takes only a few minutes. You won’t need anesthesia. The provider uses a small needle to inject Botox into specific muscles with only minor discomfort. It generally takes 7 to 14 days to take full effect.

The entire Dermal Filler procedure takes 30-45 minutes. Following the procedure, the injected area will typically show some swelling for the first day or two. Bruising may be present as well, particularly if we inject in areas where the skin is thin, such as under the eyes. However, this can typically be covered with makeup.

Do Botox and Dermal Filler injections hurt?

The injection itself feels kind of like a splinter, but if it’s done properly, the pain should go away right away. The lips may swell a little for a few hours after the procedure. It can feel a bit unsettling, but it should never be painful.

What age should you start Botox and Dermal Fillers?

Botox is approved for patients who are 18 years and older and most experts agree that patients in their mid to late 20s and early 30s are at a good age for preventative Botox treatment.

If you’re looking to a Dermal Filler to combat signs of aging, your mid-20s is often a good time to start. Your body starts to lose bone and collagen around age 26, so it’s a good time to begin maintenance injections. By starting early, you’ll use require less product than if you wait until your mid-50s.

Does Botox apply to lip augmentation?

A lip augmentation (a.k.a lip flip) is a cosmetic procedure where a doctor injects Botox into the muscle immediately above the top lip. The Botox relaxes the muscle, which causes the lip to flip up, giving the appearance of a fuller lip.

What Causes Botox to Wear off?
  • Your metabolism – Your body chemistry will process Botox on its own timeframe, typically the effect lasts 3-4 months.
  • The size and depth of your wrinkles –People with fine lines may enjoy their Botox longer than those with more prolonged wrinkles and bulkier muscle tissue.
  • Your physical activity level –Proteins needs time to get into the muscles after they are injected. The facial expressions made while working out could make your muscles contract much faster and cause the Botox to wear off.
  • The area being treated – Results in the forehead and between the eyebrows typically last the longest.
  • Your facial expressions – Some patients are more fortunate and “forget” to use their facial muscles even after the effects of Botox wear off. Their results will last longer than those who are extremely animated with their facial expressions.
  • The amount of Botox injected – There is no one-size fits all standard recipe for Botox. Your treatment should be tailored to your muscles’ specific level of activity strength and bulk. Larger muscles require more Botox.
  • How often you have Botox treatments – The more frequently you have Botox injections, the longer the effect will last between visits. Some Doctors have reported repeat clients who can go up to a year between injections.
  • Other potential factors – Some patients will experience a shorter longevity of Botox if they are ill or stressed.
What is the difference between Dermal Filler and Botox?

The big difference between Botox and Dermal Fillers is that Botox helps with wrinkles on your skin’s surface and dermal fillers help with volume loss. Both Botox and dermal fillers have their own specific uses, and they also work very well together.

Do I need Botox or Dermal Filler?

Botox contains purified bacteria that freeze muscles. In doing so, Botox can help minimize the appearance of lines and wrinkles caused by facial expressions. Dermal fillers contain ingredients that add fullness to areas that have thinned due to aging. This thinning is common in the cheeks, lips, and around the mouth.

What is better Botox or Dermal Filler?

Dermal fillers are also considered effective, and the results last longer than results from Botox overall. Still, results differ depending on the exact type of filler you choose. Like Botox, you’ll need maintenance treatments once the fillers wear off.

Does Botox or Dermal Fillers last longer?

All this being said, fillers (including Juvéderm) do last longer than Botox. Dermal Filler results are visible for anywhere from nine months to two years, while Botox typically lasts three to four months.

What are the possible Dermal Filler side effects?

After receiving Botox or Dermal Filler injections, some patients have minor, temporary side effects where they were injected. You may have:

  • Redness
  • Swelling
  • Tenderness
  • Bruising (occasionally)

These side effects tend to clear within 7 to 14 days — if not earlier.
